Switzerland Interrail travel into Austria

Hello.

I will be visiting Switzerland shortly with a One Country Switzerland Interrail pass.

On Monday 16th October EC163 Zurich to Graz is diverted via Bregenz due to construction work.

The journey planner indicates the train stops at St. Margrethen SG to pick up passengers.

If I purchase a St. Margrethen SG to Bregenz ticket to supplement the Interrail would I be permitted to travel on this train?

The journey planner indicates this train is likely to be less busy than the Zurich to Munich trains with no need to change.

Yes, you can travel to Bregenz, while your travel to St. Margrethen is covered by the Interrail Pass.

In my opinion, the Interrail Pass One Country Pass is not very beneficial for Switzerland, especially if you plan visiting mountain tops by using mountain railways and cable cars. The Swiss Half Fare Card or the Swiss Travel Pass would be more advantageous. Please ensure you are activating the Interrail Pass before boarding the train. And, you have to show your physical passport upon ticket check.

I will look into your suggestion for the SwissPass next year to visit some of the many mountain railways.
