I purchased a half fare ticket using the SBB mobile app.
Only ten minutes later, when boarding the train, I checked my email and could not find the ticket confirmation. Suspecting that for some reason my purchase did not go through and since the train was about to depart, I quickly used (once again!) the mobile app and bought the same ticket. That worked and I did receive the email confirmation.
I have later discovered that in fact I have paid for two tickets for the same fare.
Since SBB charges 10 CHF for processing a refund and the cost of the ticket was 9,60 CHF there is no way that I could even claim this.
I am confused and I do ask myself why such human errors could not have been avoided, or at the least attempted to be avoided? The mobile app could simply display a warning message telling the user that he had just purchased a ticket for that particular fare and prompt for confirmation whether an additional ticket is indeed required.
Has anyone else experienced such thing?
