There are about 150 people who are stranded on Easter weekend in between Sion and brig, and have had no communication with anyone about how they’re going to get to brig- apparently a bus that doesn’t exist. Most of us had connecting trains which we’ve now missed, and it’s Easter weekend so we won’t be home with family. Thank you SBB for being extremely unreliable and not there to help when things are going wrong.

@"Coixuettugh66"#p83950 It is unpleasant to be late and miss a connecting train, but it is impossible to avoid incidents and impossible to find replacement buses in 5 minutes. You should accept this when travelling by train.

Thank you for your comments, Daniel, and while I totally agree with you, accidents do happen- not communicating with your passengers is absolutely unacceptable. I am an avid traveler, and I would expect no less from the Swiss rail services. Communication is key.

But as soon as the consumer purchases the ticket 01 min too late or the conductor decides something is not right to him, they have no mercy. I am so sorry you went through that, it is sad to see how Sbb is really loosing ground and pushing us avid consumers of public transit to get a car instead. Things are getting ridiculous And frankly like you said, if they were to own up to it and make an effort to communicate, the story would be different.

Incidents, as the one that is being complained about here are rare, very rare, and that is one of the reasons. Switzerland has a top notch, first class public transit system.

@"Krist"#p97931 Not rare, people complain all the time the issue is the info never reaches you, things happen more often that before, from delays cancellations to derailments. Just 2 days ago my brother in law had to call someone to go get him as apparently a train derailed knocked down electrical power, he couldn’t get home! This is happening more and more. Funny enough one never hears about this, the lack of transparency is shameful.

Sweeping under the rug issues does not solve anything and I am evaluating to stop using the system all together when possible, I got rid of my car 19 years ago, But the state of the public transit is not what it is today. (Thanks for your advice I am reconsidering this.) The thing here is: I would probably be more understanding if they were more transparent about their issues, but based on my experience with multiple members of all the Sbb affiliates, it’s clear there are issues within the organisation in all fronts. Not sure if you work for Sbb or not but the idea of posting here(for me) is to give all those other voices facing the same issues with staff and transportation a forum, which…if you think about it is the very purpose of a community forum. SBB transports about 1.2 million people ever day. It would be highly surprising if a few of them did not have a bad day. Obviously you had a bad day. But don't worry. It passes.

Danhiel absolutely political issues! And this is happening all over. The infrastructure never grew and the population exploded!

This is why it makes me upset, while they spent years saying look how good we are doing, how little we are spending and now here we are! In desperate need of upkeep and repairs.

The thing is that by being transparent the voters ask questions and by simply keeping it quiet or making others think it’s a one off here and there consumers never get wind of how bad it really all might be.

That is my big problem with this. Not my one delay or 2, it’s that I see there is more to it and I feel gaslight by them.

By putting things out in the open it allows the consumer to make better and informed decisions that is all.

Kaichikai11 what makes you believe the infrastructure never grew? The Swiss railway network is currently longer than it ever was in the past.

Basically you are complaining that the best railway in Europe is not perfect. Maybe take a deep breath, and relax…

Ps it is not the best rail in Europe or at least not anymore.
This is not about relaxing and taking a deep breath it’s about being prepared and ask for changes so that next generations can continue to benefit from a transportation system that yes at one point was one of the best in The world.
Not anymore and that is something all Swiss should worry about, as punctuality, reliability and dependability have always been staples of the nation.

My brother in law was stuck without being able to get home outside of Zurich
No replacement trains or buses were sent and movement was resumed 24 hrs later
Mind you that was at 10 pm at night.

He had to call my mother in law in TG to go get him in Zurich and get him home!

But how many people do not have that as an option? This is not about being perfect.
This is about being accountable and responsible for the consumer and upholding the values that have always characterised this great nation.

I am very happy to hear non of this has ever happened to you, I hope it continues that way.

Kaichikai11 I was once in a small town in France and needed to get to Paris on a sunday. The town had one train (1!) that day, and it got cancelled… If there is one railway that absolutely will just abandon you as a passenger it is the SNCF.

When it comes to public transport we really have it good here in Switzerland. People often fail to realise that.

Regarding the problem your brother had in Zürich: In case of disruptions the SBB must provided alternatives. And they usually do. Did your brother try to get help from SBB? What actually really happened. I do not believe that it is possible that there was not movement for 24 hours, and no replacement busses.

I don’t know what to tell you, my guess is they did not give the passengers the importance they deserved, just as they didn’t in the cases of the original poster, however again it shows me how little we hear about these incidents and the lack of accountability.

Also we are not in France, and In Switzerland even post auto comes and gets you even up on The hills of Appenzell, guaranteeing all the nation finds a way to move around the country and being a dependable method of transportation or it used to be!

I also couldn’t get to Montroux last week from Geneva by train due to disruptions, it was very hard to organise alternate routes.
