two days ago I wanted to travel from Amsterdam through Köln and Basel to Milan. Sadly there was a delay in Germany which caused me to miss my connection in Basel. The SBB staff were very helpful and told me they would try to get me as far as possible, that being Domodossola. As I would arrive there after 23.00, they said there would be someone waiting for me there to help me get a hotel room, in accordance with the Fahrgastrechte. When I arrived in Domodossola however, there wasn’t any station staff there to help me. I did manage to find a hotel room myself, however, and was able to continue my original journey the next day. Who can I claim the Fahrgastrechte compensation for the delay and the hotel room with? Should I write to the Deutsche Bahn in this case? Or to the SBB? The original trainticket was bought on the website of the company Trainline.
