Hello Wiyounnoa41
Thank you for your reply! I won’t have the Swiss half card as I will be in Zurich for only 5 days
Ouch, that’s an absolute wrong conclusion.
It does not matter how many days you will spend in Switzerland, but the total amount on will spend on tickets.
For example, with only one single trip, e.g. an excursion to Jungfraujoch, the Swiss Half Fare Card is well worth the money!
Working as a ticket inspector, I often meet tourists that paid full fare tickets for their journeys while they only find out at the end of their trip that they could have travelled for less money, thanks to the Swiss Half Fare Card.
So you have to do the maths. If you spend a total amount of CHF 240 or more on full fare tickets, the Swiss Half Fare Card is a must-have. Check the ticket cost of all trips you intend to do; keep in mind that when you check the ticket costs, by default, the SBB website and SBB Mobile app show the lowest possible fare assuming you have the (Swiss) Half Fare Card.
A ticket Zurich HB to Grindelwald, single and return, full fare costs CHF 169.60, a full fare Saver Day Pass is available for CHF 70 right now (but the cost is still raising).
So you should really reconsider your decision, in order not to spend a fortune. I am sure, you will have better plans for your money than spending it rashly on expensive tickets.
Of course, the final decision is yours.
Kind regards,
Roland
