Interlaken to Milan with Berner Oberland Pass and Swiss Half Fare card

Hi,

The best pass for my itinerary is Berner Oberland pass. I will also be buying Swiss half fare card. But how to apply the discount of these passes when booking a connection from Spiez to Milan?
I see there is a direct connection from Spiez to Milan early morning. I know that with Swiss Travel Pass we can select GA travelcard reduction while booking. But is that true for Berner Oberland Pass as well? Because the route from Spiez to Domodosolla is fully covered in BOP same as Swiss travel pass.

You simply purchase an additional ticket from Domodossola to Milan.

Choosing the GA Travel Card as reduction type is permitted only if you hold a GA Travel Card or a Swiss Travel Pass.

The direct Spiez - Milan train runs through the base tunnel, and that is not covered by the BO pass. If you want to use the BO pass you need to take the RE that goes over the old line and the change to an Italian train in Domodossola.

So you have two options:

Take the direct EC train. In that case book Spiez - Milano on either SBB or Trenitalia. You can enter the HFC as a reduction there.
Take the RE over the old route (enter Kandersteg as a Via in the planner to see that schedule) and buy a separate ticket Domodossola - Milano with Trenitalia.

Can i not divide the journey in two parts using BOP?
Like I can travel from Spiez to Domodossola with a only seat reservation on the EC train and then seperately book Domodossola to Milan through Trenitalia website?

The section between Spiez to Domodossola should still be covered under BOP isnt it? For this section I am doing only seat reservation. and from Domodossola to Milan will book through trenitalia website. This is similar to the second option you provided just the train is the EC train instead of RE.

@Krist said it correctly (and I missed to say that im my response): the Berner Oberland Pass is not valid on EC / IC trains going through the Lötschberg base tunnel. It is only valid on the panorama route going via Kandersteg and Goppenstein.

See the validity map where as the route through the Lötschberg base tunnel line appears as a grey line = not valid.

BOP holders are subject to pay a surcharge of CHF 90 per person when using the EC / IC trains between Spiez and Visp.
