A class upgrade ticket is not a valid ticket on its own. It always requires another 2nd class ticket in addition. It is also clearly stated during upon purchase of a class upgrade ticket.
The ticket inspector applied the tariff correctly. Saver fares are dynamic and therefore not known to the ticket control staff.

can the money be paid in place of the Supersaver?
The invoice will not be cancelled. Whether a reduction of the total amount due is possible, is the sole decision of SBB. Since we are a customer support forum run by volunteers, we are unable to make any promises in that regard.
