Class Upgrade with Swiss Travel Pass and any discount of the price difference

I purchased 2nd class Swiss Travel Pass, but my seat reservation of Glacier Express is 1st class. I would like to upgrade the class for this. The SBB App shows seat is not available and can’t purchase the upgrade. How can I process the upgrade before departure? Also, I heard that the class upgrade with Swiss Travel Pass is to pay the half of the price difference between 1st class and 2nd class. But, I didn’t see this. Is that information correct?

Yes, you can buy Half Fare upgrades. If you travel between Zermatt and St. Moritz you can buy a Day Class Upgrade for CHF 50:

Such upgrades are also available at the ticket offices.

Let me know if you want to buy it in the app, indicate the start and the destination if you don’t travel between Zermatt and St. Moritz. I will give you a workaround.

Only if you cancel the 2nd class STP and repurchase a 1st class. It is not possible to upgrade an existing pass other than by day-by-day or for a route.
