Friends Day Pass for Youth

I recently purchased this day pass for my three children. While it appears to be valid on cable cars (according to the SBB website), they were refused access from Verbier Telecabine to Le Chable. The man at the turnstile (apparently the car operator, not a ticket agent) told us that each passenger needs their own QR code. This pass, however, has one QR code for all passengers. They tried scanning the QR a second time for the second youth, but the turnstile did not open. We want to buy this pass again but are concerned about being denied access at a cable car entry. Any thoughts?

The FDP for Youth indeed consists of one QR code only, valid for all group members. The code holds the information about the person having purchased the pass. It is sufficient to show this single code. In addition, each member must have their physical ID card or SwissPass card with them.

For cable cars and gondolas where one has to pass a turnstile, normally, FDP for Youth users must go to the ticket window in order to validate the ticket and ‘exchange’ it for free ride tickets. This is the same for Junior Card holders, for example. The same code cannot be used multiple times.

Please address the feedback directly to the cable car operator so they can train their staff accordingly.

RolandP Many thanks for information. This makes perfect sense. I’ll make sure that the children first head to the ticket window to receive their individual “free” tickets to use at the turnstile.
