SBB App not recognizing my ZVV NetzPass and GA Night

Hi community,

I recently moved to Zurich and bought a ZVV NetzPass (Zone 110) and GA Night travelcard. I’ve logged into the SBB App with my SwissPass account, and both travelcards show as valid.

However, when I search for trips within Zone 110 or after 7pm, the app still shows full ticket prices. I’ve tried re-adding the travelcards, reinstalling the app, and logging in again, but nothing changes.

Has anyone experienced this? Is there a way to make the app recognize my travelcards automatically when searching routes?

What you‘re expecting works only

with journeys remaining WITHIN the ZVV area
retrospectively for all journeys if using EasyRide (not sure about the GA Night though, e.g. when traveling just while it is becoming valid at 7pm)

This is not a bug but by design.

The GA Night is not a full GA Travel Card, and therefore not automatically recognised for free travel. It is the user’s responsibilty to know where and when it is valid.

Thanks again for your reply. I understand the GA Night limitation, but I’m still confused about the ZVV NetzPass. For trips entirely within Zone 110 (e.g. Oerlikon to ETH Zurich), the SBB App still shows the full ticket price, even though my NetzPass is active and linked to my SwissPass account. Shouldn’t the app recognize the pass and show CHF 0.00 or “included”?

No, your expectation goes beyond the app’s capabilities.

The SBB Mobile app serves as national train ticketing platform. It will take into account fare network travel cards when it comes to extension ticket purchases within the same fare network, not beyond. It is your responsibilty to make sure that your travel card is valid for the zones in which you will be travelling.

There are 20 fare networks in Switzerland, ZVV being the one with the most complex tariff regulations. It is impossible to have everything covered by the app with corresponding check routines.
