Seat Reservation for EC train

I purchased tickets from Lausanne to Domodossola (I). The details say Reservations Possible. I tried over and over on both website version and APP, but I just can not find where to reserve seats. The FAQ section says Scroll down and select ‘Seat reservation only’, but the option never appears.

I am even surprised you could already buy a ticket for a travel date that far in the future. Note that on that route reservations are not required, so you can always just board and find a free seat.
Are you just going to Domodossola, or are you going to Milano? If you are going to Milano, why not book a direct train?

Well, reason I booked this early is because I am traveling with two kids so I want to get my seats confirmed. And Google Gemini tells me (well, many conflicting answers) earliest I can book is 180 days ahead, so I have it a try.

Yes we are traveling to Milano, but it’s to Milan airport. My wife is worried that a transit at Milan would be too chaotic with luggage’s and two kids running around, so we plan to get off at Domodossola then get a private transport to MXP airport directly.

That is your first mistake… Trusting AI.

This is train travel. Mass transit. There is no need to book this so far in advance. The chance of you not getting tickets to get to Malpensa from Geneva is 0% even on the day itself. And you do not really need seat reservations. 99% of the confusion tourists experience when booking train travel stems from booking to early. A trip in July I would not book earlier than May.

Also, with the new Gallarate - Malpensa line opened you can actually travel easily all the way by train.

Wow.. thanks. the Gallarate stop is great. Saves a lot of time and effort and of course, money. Can I just change my ticket or need to cancel and buy a new one?

Also, on July 22 we will be going from MXP airport to Zermatt. Due to the Iselle construction seems like it will take a lot more time and trasnfers. Is there another route?
