Jungfraujoch with SwissPass... and different routes!

Hi,

I’m hoping to go up Jungfrujoch on 7th July and have researched the avilable routes, prices, etc… but I have questions about buying the tickets please.

1) - How do I specify that I have a 3-day Swiss Rail Pass so that I get the 25% discount when buying the ticket? I see options for Full Fare, Half Fare, GA 1st class, GA 2nd class… but that’s it! Am I missing something?

2) - The reason I want to use SBB rather than the official Jungfraujocj website (https://www.jungfrau.ch) is that I want to go up via the gondola and then come down via the train to Lauterbrunnen - to get two different experiences. The “official” website only lets you go up/down using the same route. IF there is a way to apply the discount on SBB (so that I can use this website) then I’m guessing I’d need to purchase the up and the down as two separate tickets?

That 25% discount is a very unique use case related only to the Swiss Travel Pass and the Jungfraujoch. Therefore it is not supported on the ‘universal’ SBB online ticket sale channels. That very unusual STP 25% discount is supported only on the jungfrau.ch site or at the on-site ticket counters.

2)
On Jungfrau.ch on the ‘select your connection’ page you need to fully scroll down and tap/click that link saying something like individual return journey. After that you can select via Lauterbrunnen as return journey (for the same price).

A return ticket to the Jungfraujoch is normally valid via all three routes. So you can at your own discretion decide which way you go up and which way down.
I would suggest you buy the ticket here at the station once are certain of the weather.

One final question please, in relation to Krist’s suggestion of just buying once I know the weather - is there any danger of days and/or time periods getting 100% sold out?

The reason I’m asking is because we’ll only be there for 1.5 days and I’ve got things planned very precisely… so long as I can get the tickets for the specific(ish) journeys I’ve got in mind.

The ticket offices here have a display that shows which time slots still have availability. I have seen it that sometimes some time slots are sold out on the day itself, but never all.

The day before you should have no issue.

Note that spending only 1.5 days here, and planning things precisely is exactly what you should not do. No trip plan survives contact with the Swiss Weather. I always pity those tourists that are on a tight schedule. Do not forget that it is supposed to be a holiday.

Yup, I know it’s all weather-dependent… but better to have a plan (even if that doesn’t quite work out) than no plan :-)
