Questions about Day Pass for the Half Fare Travelcard

I live in Germany and I don’t have the Half Fare Travelcard.

I would like to buy the Day Pass for the Half Fare Travelcard for December in advance. But I can only apply for the Half Fare Travelcard when I come to Switzerland.

However, If I don’t buy the Day Pass for the Half Fare Travelcard now, the price will increase a lot when I come to Switzerland.

What should I do？

To buy a half fare ticket, it is not necessary to be in the possession of a Half Fare Card. You are welcome to buy the half fare ticket now and the Half Fare Card later. The only person who will check if you are entitled to travel with a half fare ticket and if you are therefore in the possession of a Half Fare Card, is the ticket inspector. You will have to pay a hefty surcharge if you travel with a half fare ticket without a Half Fare Card.

You are most probably talking about a Saver Day Pass; it is available with or without a half fare card. The price for it is dynamic and is going up over the time. See: https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/tickets-for-switzerland/day-pass/saver-day-pass.html

The Day Pass for the Half Fare Card is available at a fixed price of CHF 75. It is solely valid together with a Half Fare Card. See: https://www.sbb.ch/de/abos-billette/billette-schweiz/tageskarten/tageskarte-zum-hta.html

Regarding the Half Fare Card: there are two different Half Fare Cards available (both can be bought online):
