SBB Saver Day Pass and Luggage Station-to-Station

Hi, I am looking to transfer my luggage from Zurich Airport to my last stop in Zermatt, where I would arrive 6 days later.

Based on the luggage transfer Terms and condition, it states: “The shipping of luggage is only possible with a valid ticket for the entire transport route or with a valid annual travelcard (GA Travelcard, Half Fare Travelcard, Point-to-Point Travelcard, Regional Travelcard, GA Travelcard for SBB employees, Night GA Travelcard, Modular Travelcard)”

Can I purchase a Saver Day Pass to cover the trip from Zurich to Zermatt so that my luggage can be transferred there? Or would I need to purchase a point-to-point Ticket to cover the trip?

Is 1 Zurich-Zermatt ticket sufficient to transfer 2 luggages to Zermatt (exclu the additional luggage transfer fee 12CHF/each)?

(I currently only have a Swiss Travel Pass, I plan to purchase a ticket just to transfer my luggage and not board the train)

Yes, a Saver Day Pass is also accepted. Even the Swiss Travel Pass is accepted (it counts as GA Travelcard which is, in fact, its equivalent for tourists). There is no need to purchase a Saver Day Pass just to transer your luggage.

You simply check-in the luggage using your Swiss Travel Pass. The luggage is kept at the station in Zermatt for free for 4 consecutive days, counted from the day the luggage is ready there for pick-up. After the 4 days, you will pay a storage fee of CHF 5 per piece and day.

Does that make sense?

Thank you for your reply! There has been a previous thread on this topic as well and SBB community moderators have actually responded saying that the Swiss Travel passes are not valid as a travel ticket for SBB luggage station-to-station transfer.

Not too sure if there had been a change in policy or I am missing any key details. Do advise on how I could deconflict this, worried that I would purchase the wrong tickets.

I don’t know why you came to that (wrong) conclusion.

The Swiss Travel Pass is considered a valid ticket covering the entire route; it is, in fact, the tourist’s equivalent of the GA Travel Card for residents that is mentioned in the list.
